Yorick van Norden laat een nieuw en eigentijds geluid horen op zijn nieuwe album Playing By Ear dat op 12 november verschijnt bij Excelsior Recordings. Voor het eerst koppelt Yorick zijn sixties en seventies gevoel voor melodie met de uitvergroting daarvan van de Britpop uit zijn jeugd in de nineties en zeroes. Het gitaargeluid en het ‘pamflettisme’ in de tekst stamt van de postpunk van begin jaren tachtig en de buitenaardse klanktapijten van geluidsmagiër Tom Broshuis (ex-Mister and Mississippi) voeren ons ontegenzeggelijk naar het heden. Dát is Playing By Ear geworden, zijn derde soloalbum, dat zich laat kenmerken door veel persoonlijkere teksten en een ander, fris en tijdloos geluid.
